Where do we begin to thank all of our donors, partners, and volunteers for being a part of bringing hope to our children and families. We are thankful to have been able to help more than 100 children and their families from seven islands of the Philippines—69 of these children having enrolled in 2017!
Through the support of so many, we were able to house 30 children and their families while they availed medical care in Cebu City. We were able to provide medicines, medical supplies and resources, nutrition, blood donors and hospital assistance to a majority of the children enrolled in our program. We conducted countless home and hospital visitations and provided transportation to their medical appointments. We advocated for our families and gave referral letters which allowed our children opportunities to get further support. We made improvements to the center through adding a prayer and counseling room, bunk beds, storage cabinets and more. We were able to host over 40 sponsored events and activities in 2017 for our children and families which brought them joy in the midst of battling cancer. We have provided much needed emotional and spiritual care through prayer and bible studies, family support groups, counseling, and one on one discipleship for our teens and parents.
One of our greatest joys was to grant Liza Mae’s final wish to see her grandmother who she hadn’t seen in over five years. We traveled via boat to Olango Island to say her final goodbye. Less than 24 hours after her travel, she was able to have peace, and went to be with Jesus.
We hope and pray that all of our children will be healed, but most of all, we wish to bring them hope and joy for all the days that they are given! A big thank you from all of us to you for bringing hope — we look forward to 2018 and all we can do together to make a difference for Filipino children with cancer and their families!
