This is a difficult day for Everlasting HOPE and especially for the family of Rex who is now at rest – yet we rejoice in knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus. God continued to do so many miracles in the life of Rex up until his very last breath! Through so many prayers, loved ones, supporters, medical care teams, agencies, and community members, Rex was able to experience so many blessings and miracles in the midst of a very difficult battle with Leukemia. We are so proud of how hard he fought and for the dedication of his Mama, Papa, older brother and extended family that fought alongside him every step of the way.

We wish to continue Rex’s greatest desire to proclaim the many miracles in his life. Last January, the day he received Jesus in His life he said that He wanted to live so that he could proclaim the miracles that God had done in his life. Every day, every breath was a miracle in the life of Rex. There were many times that he almost died over the past year, yet God continued to give him more days. In the previous months, Rex was in and out of the hospital, having difficulty with walking and breathing, experiencing seizures and falls, and having near death experiences. Yet he never gave up and wanted to keep fighting and to continue making memories.

This past week, Rex was walking around the center making us all laugh and playing basketball and billiards with his brother and papa (who returned just this week from many months working on the ship to provide for his family). He was teaching one of our younger children mathematics by counting with fingers and toes 😉 Yet on Thursday, he began to experience complications once again, and was admitted back to the hospital. The next day (Friday), God did the biggest miracle in Rex’s life outside of the day that Rex received Jesus. His blood pressure was very unstable and he lost his eyesight. A few of our team members went to the hospital and prayed with Rex and proclaimed healing and to give him more time. Then a few more of us went a few hours later and prayed with the family. An hour after arriving back to the center, we received a call that Rex had passed away and the doctor had declared him gone. We were all so sad. We gathered to pray and process with the families in Everlasting HOPE as we all love Rex so much and consider each other to be family. Twenty minutes later, we received a call that Rex came back to life. We were in complete awe of God’s amazing grace and began to proclaim the goodness of God’s great miracle that He had done. Rex’s eyesight was restored and he told his family that he saw God and that he didn’t remember any part of being revived by the doctors.

The next day, the family was able to share stories, tell each other how much they loved and appreciated one another and asked forgiveness where needed. The family played Bless the Lord Oh My Soul and Rex sang in his loudest voice to the Lord. God’s timing is perfect and He truly gave them this precious time that they would never have had if He did not do such an amazing miracle. Through the life of Rex, so many have an increased faith and we are so very blessed.

Thank you Rex for bringing us so much joy and laughter. We will miss you so very much, but this isn’t goodbye as we will see you again! WE LOVE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Love, your Everlasting HOPE family
