"My dream is to own a little farm that would provide for the needs of my family," says 16-year-old Ma Fe!
Ma Fe is a very mature, talented, and caring girl and is the 8th of 10 children. When first asked what is her favorite hobby, she said “sleeping.” 😊 However, her real passion, and favorite past time, is reading books. She expresses great love for reading the Bible and is so incredibly smart – her English is absolutely amazing.

Ma Fe is from the Province of Samar, Philippines, a 12-hour boat ride to Cebu City. She joined our Everlasting Hope family in February 2024 and has been staying with her mama in our Home Away from Home for 9 months. She is excited for the day she can return home to visit her family, but is super thankful for the gift of a comfortable home to stay while undergoing treatment for Lymphoma.

I had the privilege of sitting down with Ma Fe this past August to learn more about her. She shared with me: “Ate Kristina, there is a difference between wants and needs”. I asked her to explain more. She expressed her heart’s desire to provide for her family, and that the needs of her family are far more important than getting the things that she may want. She shared that her father plants vegetables to sustain their daily food. She expressed concern for the additional costs of her medical treatments, and how it is taking away from helping her other siblings with their schooling needs.
Her greatest hope is to one day own a little farm so that she can make a difference for her family.
Ma Fe also expressed a desire to serve her country by one day becoming a soldier. She shared her concerns about the military’s physically fit requirements and that she may be disqualified due to scaring on her neck from cancer. I reminded Ma Fe that God has amazing and great plans for her, that all things are possible through Him, to never give up dreaming, and to always have Hope! I pray she plants those words deep in her heart and never forgets that she is uniquely and wonderfully made!
Ma Fe will be undergoing her 15th cycle of Chemotherapy this December 2024. Thank you for praying for and believing with Ma Fe for complete healing, that the needs of her family would be met, and that all of her dreams will come true!
